MALFNKTION

‘MALFNKTION’ is the electronic music project of Indian artist, Aditya Alamuru. Sampling Indian films and musical instruments around an alternative HipHop framework has allowed Malfnktion to appeal to a growing audience in India and abroad. Live performance is inherently collaborative, tying in multiple mediums such as video, animation and graphic design to music and live performance.

His debut EP ‘Hindustani Rascal‘ was a homage to the 60s’ golden age of Indian cinema. It was released in September 2015 and was featured on Apple Music, Buzzfeed and Festival Sherpa. His debut LP, ‘Infinity Trail‘ released in October 2019 along with a new 360 album cover and an audiovisual set.

Playing at some of the essential bass and dance music events in the country, Malfnktion has created a niche for himself in the Indian electronic music space. He has performed at notable festivals such as Magnetic Fields, Echoes of Earth, Nh7 Weekender, Vh1 Supersonic, Sula Fest, Bass Camp Festival and Boxout Weekender. At the end of 2018, he was one of 24 musicians from around the world to take part in the renowned One Beat music residency and tour in the United States.

Malfnktion’s releases on labels include Be Free ft Zoya (Souletiquette, Dublin), Chameleon ft. MadStarBase (GetPhysicalMusic, Berlin), Tawang (Nowadays Records, France) and Charlie ft. Shayan (Saavn Music, India). Over the last three years, he has opened for Maribou State, Om Unit, Joe Kay (Soulection), Ivy lab, Anna Morgan and Iglooghost among others.
