-------- About Commodo* --------
An artist with minimal online presence and who keeps himself to himself, Commodo is one of an increasingly rare few who make waves through the strength of their music alone. He builds bass-focussed beats with soul and substance that never perpetuate a formula, distancing himself from contemporaries with ingenious sampling and sound design influenced by his long-time affinity with the vibrancy of hiphop. Regardless of whether it’s the tough, dread-pressurised bassweight of his dancefloor-leaning productions or the tonally rich and immersive qualities of his more cerebral work, his scrupulous studio techniques are evidenced by the resounding freshness and longevity of his tracks both new and old. His inherently unique and accomplished production style earned him recognition right from the outset of his ascendancy and garnered early attention from a host of key figures within the dubstep community; finding a natural home for his music at the bastion of low frequency excellence, Deep Medi Musik.
Having already accumulated a gem-laden discography, there is undoubtedly much more to come from Commodo. It’s shaping up to be an exciting future for a guy who will continue to challenge himself musically, explore new BPMs and aesthetics, innovate and cement his reputation as one of the UK underground’s best-regarded producers.
-------- About Tarqeeb --------
Tarqeeb (Translation: Plan) is Ashish Jose. A seeker of hedonism through rhythm, philanthropy through music-making, he formed his moniker in the summer of 2012. The idea was always simple--promotion of quality EDM, minus the little labels and the big boxes. The only constants remain deep, groovy bass-lines, dark atmospheres and a trajectory that ultimately crescendos into high energy dance music. Coming from a Metal (bassist) and Psychedelic trance background, his sets innately include a generous dose of live sampling, layering and an overall vibe that could be defined as 'eclectic.'
His influences run deep. Think older heavyweights like Photek, LTJ Bukem, Ed Rush, BSE, Concord Dawn as well as producers like Alix Perez, Rockwell, Mefjus, Foreign Concept as a representation of the newer breed of the same.
If asked for a self-description, Tarqeeb tends to turn to one of his major musical inspirations, DnB producer Alix Perez's words of wisdom: "I play generally deep but dip into various aspects of drum & bass. I like to read the crowd and let the music breathe. I find mixing in the right musical keys essential. I basically see it as a journey."
Still in its nascent stage, Tarqeeb has already given people a reason to move on dance floors around the country. From NH7 Weekender Pune to Bass Camp Festival Delhi and Indian Surf Festival Orissa he's enjoyed playing alongside headliners like London Elektricity, Dub Phizix, Koan Sound, Nanci & Phoebe as well as his peers from India's own burgeoning music scene such as BBC, Ox7gen, Sandunes, Reggae Rajahs, Vice Versa and BASS Foundation to name a few.
-------- About Oceantied --------
The past year has been abuzz with news from Oceantied, who has been steadily making a mark for himself both internationally as well as in India. From performing at the first Boiler Room session in India to playing at playing at two of the biggest European festivals, Outlook and Dimensions festivals, the solo electronic project started by Ketan Bahirat, Oceantied is a deep-dive into the artist’s sprawling soundscape.
Ranging from dark and frenetic, to upbeat and dancefloor - friendly, Oceantied’s palette of sounds spans the genre spectrum easily, with a generous helping of beats, funk and fat basslines to have audiences crawling the walls.
Fresh from his residency at Red Bull Music Academy, Montreal, and from spreading his unique brand of melodies all over the globe, Ketan Bahirat released his debut EP ‘Tribes’ in December, 2016. ‘Tribes’, which has been in the works for two years, draws inspiration from Bahirat’s views of the world around him. Polished with skills Bahirat picked up at the Red Bull Music Academy, ‘Tribes’ is an immersive delight for a range of music lovers, genre no bar. From new-age footwork and jungle, to eclectic electronic beats made through found sound, to recordings on Indian streets and samples from field recordings, ‘Tribes’ is a multi-layered, engrossing experience in itself.
Oceantied has also shared the stage with the likes of AMIT, Sam Binga, Zed Bias and Lapalux, to name just a few bass legends, and has had the chance to give audiences in Czech Republic, Malta, Finland and Croatia a taste of his eclectic sets.
Apart from his constant involvement in playing live shows at clubs, venues and festivals around the country - under Oceantied as well as on guitar for ‘Until We Last’ - Ketan Bahirat has most recently created a property called Producer Circle, to help producers gather, collaborate and grow, in an ecosystem of local music. He also founded the city collective Hybrid Cycle in 2015.
